No. Sophie gives an estimated band to help you practise, based on the public IELTS Speaking band descriptors. Only the official IELTS test gives you an IELTS score. The app is not connected to the official IELTS test.

Free accounts get 3 minutes a day. Premium members get up to 60 minutes a day. If you need more, you can buy extra speaking minutes in the app.

Your speech is turned into text so the partner can answer and so you get a report. You can read how we use your data, and how AI is used, in our privacy and AI use policies.

Teachers from Express English College in Manchester. Each teacher shows the courses they teach, their prices and the times they are free.

Choose a course and tap one of the soonest free times, or choose a teacher first. Lessons are 30 or 60 minutes, online, and can be booked at least 2 hours ahead. You pay by card or with lesson credits.

No. Premium covers everything in the app, but classes and one-to-one lessons are paid separately, so you only pay for the lessons you take.

If you cancel at least 24 hours before the start, you get your payment or credit back.

Take the free placement test (about 10 minutes). There are placement tests for General English, Business English and IELTS. After the General test you can take a short speaking test with Sophie.

When you reach a level or finish a course, your teacher can issue an Express English College certificate. Each one has a code that anyone can check on our site.

Express English College is accredited by the British Council, a member of English UK and a Trinity exam centre. The level on your certificate is always confirmed by a teacher, not by the AI alone.
